As we all know concordence is an agreement of words which derives from the word concord which means agreement. In other definition concordence from the marriam webster dictionary.com is an alphabetical index of the words in the book or the works of an author whith their immidiate contex. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/concordance While in http://www.everythingbio.com/glos/definition.php?word=concordance concordance define as The amount of similarity in phenotype between a set of individuals. May be used to refer to the presence of the same trait in both members of a pair of twins.

A concordancer is a computer program which is used to find the occurrences of every single word or phrase in a text. A concordance is the nucleus of corpus linguistics because it reveals many facts about the language and its patterns show how a language system works when it is analyzed. A corpus is defined as a collection of naturally-occurring language text, chosen to characterize a state or variety of a language.

Concordancing with Language Learners: Why? When? What?

Why does Johns (1988) use concordancing in language learning? First, it interjects authenticity (of text, purpose, and activity) into the learning process. Second, learners assume control of that process. And third, the predominant metaphor for learning becomes the research metaphor, as embodied in the concept of data-driven learning (DDL), which builds learners' competence by giving them access to the facts of linguistic performance.

To paraphrase Stevens (1993), language teachers fall into three groups: those who have never heard of concordances, those who haven't yet taken them seriously, and those who swear by them. Many teachers in the latter group feel that concordancers are the type of software that most closely approaches fulfilling the potential of computers in language learning. In a sense, they are working approximations of expert systems. They bring cognitive and analytic skills in students to bear on the manipulation of comprehensive databases for the purpose of solving real-language problems.

ACT 1

SCENE 1

SETTING: AT THE RESTAURANT

Hazman :URGGHH…~ (with the sound of irritated. he look at her).WHY IS THIS
HAPPENING TO ME! HELP ME JESS…! HELP ME! PLEASE!!!!DO
SOMETHING! ARGGGHHHH…..! (Continued his irritating impression)

Jessica :huh???(With confusion) What’s up with you, Haz? Don’t tell me that you
still have to work during this semester break?

Hazman :don’t you feel what I’m feeling. Don’t you see!!!!!(He lifts both of his
arms as if he wanted to strangle something or someone)

Jessica :err… Why don’t you ask your boss for a holiday…Err…I mean a long
holiday..?(With a guilty feeling)

Hazman :What! Holiday? Don’t be silly, Jess. You are not helping me.

Jessica :Why not? Since we haven’t done anything together, I think this is the
right time...well…

Hazman :so what do you want to do? (He sat next to her)

Jessica :(expression change into excited) A road trip..!(She jolted up) hmm~ a
road trip to Timbuktu...hehehe… (Gave a big smile and giggled)

Hazman :yea…yeah…Timbuktu as if we are gonna teleport ourselves there.

Jessica :come on Haz… I was just joking. Why not a car ride journey? A long
journey with only the both of us…. (Hazman interrupted)

Hazman :Come on get to the point. Don’t exaggerate, Jess.

Jessica :Fine. (She folded her arms for a few seconds an she put it back the way it
was)So..? What are we waiting for? Just hop into the car and go. Heee….
(She gave a big smile to Hazman).

Hazman :( He shook his head and took a deep breath. Then he continued) But you
haven’t given me time for consideration. Well~ you should know my boss right..?

Jessica :Whatever! (While rolling her eyes)

Hazman :Ok .I’ll call you tonight. (He smiled)

Jessica :ok! (She smiled back)

SCENE 2

SETTING: ALONG THE JOURNEY

After a few hours of driving, at a deserted highway where no one has ever steped foot on, not a single living soul was found. Darkness rules the place and creeps found its own meaning here.

Hazman :hey, Jess! Wake up.

Jessica :YAWNNN!!!!Ya. Why?

Hazman :don’t you feel weird?

Jessica :nope but my tummy is grumbling. Hey, is there anything to eat? I’m
Hungry!

Hazman :haih! Be patient, Jess. There is nothing here not a single town can be
Seen.

Jessica :are we there yet?

Hazman :nope.

Jessica :I’m feeling rather chilly.

Hazman :yeah me too. Oh, no! The gas is out.

Jessica :WHAT!

Hazman :we are out of gas! (Irritated)

Jessica :if I’m not mistaken there is a gas station, just around the conner.

SCENE 3

SETTING: AT THE PETROL STATION

The petrol station was located in front of a small town. As they arrived there is no one except the chaser and a mysterious looking guy in all black suits, with a dark hat. Standing alone at the side of the benches .as he observe the scene, hazman saw a notice board that is located at the side of the man. He went towards it. As he walked towards the man leaving Jessica back at the pump as he looked at it inquisitively. ‘Welcome to the hotel of California! It’s a lovely place! It’s a lovely face!’ stated a piece of paper that was written in red ink.

Man :don’t go there.

Hazman :huh???

Man :you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave!

Hazman :How come?

Man :it’s their way, it’s their style. When the eye meets the end. (He walks
away)

By then Hazman felt as if the creeps were crawling under his skin. His bones were as cold as no one could imagine but he acted as if nothing happened. He walked towards the car and continued his long journey. Till the moon took over the sky, shining with pride by ruling the earth in the darkness. Suddenly, a loud explosion is heard. As Hazman control the car that was unstable. The car swirled from left to right.

Jessica :(screaming) Do something Hazman. Oh god almighty please help us!
Please god, please I’m begging you!

Hazman :Jess when I count to three we jump!

Jessica :(nodded without saying a word)

Hazman :One…two…THREE JUMP!

Both of them jump out of the car leaving the car behind without a driver.

Jessica :Oh, Haz! How can this happen to us!

Hazman :don’t worry Jess, we will continue our journey once we get another
vehicle.

Jessica :( in a sad emotion) but…but…my things? Our trip? Your car? And where
are we going to spend our night? Don’t tell me that we’re going to sleep
outside in this dark and cold place. It’s creepy!

Hazman :I’m afraid we have to, if we cant find a place to stay.

ACT2.

SCENE 1

Jessica : Hey, Haz! Can u smell something?

Hazman : Yeah! Smells like colitas.

Jessica : And look at those shimmering lights. Where are they coming from?

Hazman : Well~ the only way to find out is by checking it.

Jessica : Come let’s check it out! Hey! That’s a hotel if I'm not mistaken. Come
on lets spend the night there.

Hazman :Err…but. But…

Jessica : No buts. It’s either here or there and I choose there .I’m not going to sleep out here on the wet, muddy grass. At least they have beds and
Pillows there. (She pulled hazman’s hand and dragged him with her luggage into the main entrance)

Receptionist : Welcome to Hotel California. May I help you? (While smiling at the both
of them)

Jessica : Oh yes! We would like to check in here.

Receptionist : Ok, holds on for a while I’ll get you the keys.

Hazman : Jess… I don’t think it’s a good idea.

Jessica : How come?

Hazman : Its rather dull in here…something doesn’t seem right to me.

Jessica : Why do you say so?

Hazman : This could be heaven and this could be hell.

Jessica : For once try to be positive.

Hazman : But. But… (He saw the receptionist before he manage to finish up his sentence)

Receptionist : My lady, this way please. (He lifts the candle and showed the way)

As they followed him, passing by each and every corridor voices hollowed all the way. Step by step they walk. Each and every step they take evanescent. The only lights there was were candles.
(The hole scene is only been lighten with candles).

Receptionist :( he stops) my lady this is your room and sir, this room is yours and

SCENE 2

SETTING: INSIDE THE HOTEL ROOM

Jessica :( on the phone)…Hey, Haz!

Hazman : Yo, Jess wassup!

Jessica : I’m hungry here…my tummy is grumbling and I could even swallow a
Horse!

Hazman : Me too… I want a plate of pasta…

Jessica : How about a roast turkey??

Hazman : Good idea but I still want a plate of pasta…I’M CRAVING FOR IT!
(A weird squeaking sound was heard coming from their room’s door)

Jessica : Wait a minute Haz…do you hear something?

Hazman : Huh???

Jessica : There is a weird squeaking sound coming from outside.

Hazman : Outside where? Do mean the door? Yea there is. What’s that?

Jessica : Err... I don’t know... how should I know! (In a shivering tone of voice).

Both of them put the phone down immediately after they open their room’s door
Looking at each other with a weird expression…they face to the side where the squeaking sound came from.

Waiter :( stops in the middle of their room and he shows them their food but they
didn’t move from their place)…. Sir this is your food….my lady,
this is yours.

Both of them were shocked but they didn’t bother about it.

SCENE 3

SETTING: AT THE BAR

Drunken man1: Yo, wassup Jo!

Drunken man2: Man… there is only the ceiling man. Come here man and join me.

Drunken man2: Man…lets have one for the road!

Drunken man1: yeah! One for the road! (Both of them lift their glasses up high)

Drunken man1: One...two...three…CHEERS!!!

in the scene)

Drunken man1: Which one? Is it that girl? I agree with you man…

Waitress : sir this is your beer sir.

Drunken man1: one more for the road!

Drunken man2: cheers! Hey, Jo! Come on lets party!

Drunken man1: hey baby! Come to papa…

Girl : Oh! I’m sorry baby. I have friends to entertain here. Bye…!!!
(Turn around and walk away with a group of boys and some girls)

Drunken man2: HELL! What is she trying to do? Aren’t we good enough for her?

Drunken man1: Don’t you worry man…tonight she will meet the end.

Drunken man2: We’ll see about that…

(Hazman and Jessica enters the scene)

Jessica : This is great! Party time…Oooo I love parties!!!(She walks into the

Hazman : Argh! Why do I have to do this? (Unsatisfied emotion)

Jessica : Come on, haz! Let’s have some fun…heee…

Hazman : Ok...ok. Wait a minute come lets sit at the bar. I don’t think I'm feeling well.

Jessica : Well~ as you wish! (She went to the dance floor)

Hazman sat next to the two dunked man.

Waitress : This is a cup of champagne.

Hazman : But I didn’t order anything yet. Can you please bring me my wine?

Waitress : We haven’t had her spirit here since 1969

Hazman :( he keeps quiet with an uneasy feeling. then he saw a girl dancing with
some kind of dance with her friends. Then he turns to one of the drunk
man that were sitting next to him) err. Sir…what kind of dance is that?

Drunken man1: If I’m not mistaken that is Sweet Summer Sweat…

Drunken man2: Oooo….interesting…

Hazman : Huh??? What kind of dance is that? I’ve never heard about it.

Drunken man2: Because some dances are to be remembered, some dances are to forget.

(Hazman’s face turns pale.)

Hazman : Err. Err...Its getting late. I better get going.

Drunken man1: chill…dude! You haven’t finish up your glass of champagne.

Hazman : Owh! Why not you have it?

Drunken man2: Its not fair that he gets it!

Hazman : Waitress!

Waitress : Yes sir, may I help you?

Hazman : Can you hand me the bill please? And can I have an empty glass?

Waitress : This is your glass, sir and there is no bill here.

Hazman :( while pouring half of the champagne into another glass and pass it to

Hazman left both of them and hurried towards the dance floor and pulled Jessica out of it.

Jessica : Hey! I’m not done yet!

Hazman : Come on! Let’s go Jess! Whether you like it or not you are coming with
Me. (He pulled Jessica away from the dance floor and they went out from the bar)

Jessica : what’s up with you Haz?

Hazman :( with a pale look)…err…err…

Jessica : Haz, come on answer my question!

Hazman : Err…I don’t think I’m feeling well jess. Come let’s grab some fresh air!
(He smiled)
Jessica : Argh…!!! Ok fine you won. So where do you want to start first?
Hazman : Hmm~ come let’s go this way.

At the same time an unknown figure saw them walking through the forbidden path. Then it went back into one of the chambers. End of scene.

SCENE 4

SETTING: IN THE MASTERS CHAMBERS

Followers 1 : Owh...my lord. I have great news today. (While bowing in front of the

And the both of them bow together at the same time. Then they slowly walk out of the scene.

ACT 3

SCENE1.

SETTING: THE PATH TO THE MASTER CHAMBERS

While walking out from the masters chambers, warm smell of colitas rising up through the air. Up ahead in the distance they saw a shimmering light coming out from the end of the passage way. They went toward the lights. As they reach at the scene they saw a door where the smell of colitas came from. Hazman slowly open the door to take a look.
Without any further details, Hazman slowly pushed the door and they entered the chamber. They sneaked from a site to another to get a better view on the possession. Observing carefully, so they won’t get caught. Mirrors on the ceiling and pink champagne on ice were seen. As they walked into the chambers, soft hollow voices were heard. Some were saying” welcome to the hotel of California! Such a lovely place (such a lovely place) such a lovely face!” And in the chambers there are more doors. And each door has its own hollow. Jessica reaches one of the doors.

(The noise of the door)

Jessica :( screamed her head off, there was blood all everywhere)

Hazman :( he grab Jessica out of it.)

Jessica :( gasping for air) what was that!

Hazman :( he remain silent)

Then they continued walking. After passing 20 doors Hazman took the next one. And this time someone screaming was heard. Therefore, they ran for their life trying each and every door there is. And each and every one of them gave a different horror. Some was filled with dead crop while others with trapped soul. The rest were beyond explanation.
Both of them were pale. And at the end of the path, the smell of colitas filled the air. It was so strong that the both of them were forced to cover their nose. A door which is different form the others end the pathway. It was the only thing there is.

Hazman : I’m going to open this last door since it is the end.

Jessica : Well I have objections.

Hazman : Before anything happen can you promise that we will stick together
forever.

Jessica : Yes.

Hazman : Are you for real or are you just saying that half heartedly?

Jessica : If it’s not for real I would have left you a long time ago.

Hazman : One…two. Three… (Discretely he pushes the door)

SCENE 2

SETTING: THE MASTERS CHAMBERS

As they entering, the door they opeans discreetly without making any sound.

Girl : HELP ME! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! (She screams)

Beast and : (mumbling something)

SETTING: MAIN ENTRANCE.

They have to find their way back to the place they were before.

Receptionist : Relax. We are programmed to receive.

(They look at him with horror)

Receptionist : You can check in any time you like. But you may never leave.

Jessica drops her bags and Hazman freezes. A group surrounded them.
Suddenly, Hazman woke up as he heard someone calling his name.

Jessica : Haz, wake up!

Hazman : Huh?? YAWN!!!! What’s the occasion?

Jessica : Don’t you tell me that you have already forgotten about it?

Hazman : I guess so…

Jessica : Argh…you promised me to go for a car ride journey!

Hazman : WHAT! CAR RIDE JOURNEY!

Jessica : Well the both of us together driving to a place that we don’t know...

(Hazman froze. He was so shocked as he has to go to a journey that he had just dreamt of.)
